Exhaust heat exchangers are mainly used in industry to reuse the thermal energy used in production processes. The hot exhaust gases are fed through pipes into an exhaust heat exchanger, through which another medium (liquid/gaseous) is passed and at least partially absorbs the heat energy. The thermal energy recovered in this way can thus be transferred to another process or external consumers, such as district or local heating components.
Special internals ensure that the thermal energy is evenly distributed to the individual pipes and additionally increase the entire service life of the exhaust heat exchanger.
Depending on the process structures in an industrial company, waste heat generated at process point A can be used via a heat exchanger at process point B - for example by preheating the air when it is fed into a combustion chamber.
Waste heat which is generated in a process structure of a company can of course also be used elsewhere in the company. For example, the waste heat of an electric generator for compressed air could be converted into cold with the help of an absorption refrigeration system and used elsewhere in the company.
The waste heat generated in companies can also be used for electricity generation in addition to its process-internal and internal use. Refrigerants are evaporated with the aid of plate heat exchangers, which enter a generator via a control system and drive it. The electricity generated in this way can in turn be used internally or fed into the power grid.
Buffer storage can be used to store the waste heat generated in companies. By accessing these stores from external service providers, the energy can be used for other purposes - for example, in the form of district heating in nearby towns.
